Bodacious Copy’s Generative AI Policy

Dear subscribers, clients, and friends,

After recently attending a webinar by Mari Smith entitled “Stop the Madness! Social Media is Broken. AI-Driven Content is Out of Control. Learn How To Grow Your Business in 2026 Without Selling Your Soul”, I was encouraged to write my own version of Mari’s Generative AI Policy.

With the rapid acceleration of generative AI use in marketing today, I firmly believe we all need to be transparent about how we are using these tools.

As synthetic media floods our social media feeds, trust is eroding. Every day, more people are being deceived into believing content is real when it’s fake.

I have been studying the basics of AI for two years. When time allows, I continue to investigate and test the use of AI in different areas of my business.

I’m uncomfortable with AI tools that make it easy to crank out fake videos and deepfakes of other people. Not that I’m one to use video often! As an introvert with limited video editing skills and a lifelong writer, I feel more comfortable expressing myself in writing, on the phone, or in person. And as an entrepreneur and marketer, I have always had a deep commitment to relationships first.

Here is how I currently use generative AI tools in my business.

Bodacious Copy – Responsible AI Principles

  1. I believe with an absolute passion in taking an entirely human-centred approach to AI that empowers real people.
  2. I believe that humans remain accountable for all decisions and actions, even when assisted by AI. Humans must stay in the loop about all AI applications.
  3. I believe in the critical role of human knowledge, experience, emotion, intuition, instinct and imagination in creativity.
  4. I believe in the power of the written word, images, audio, and videos to educate, influence, and effect change.
  5. I believe that transparency in data collection and AI use is essential to maintain the trust of my clients and community.
  6. I believe in personalization without invading privacy, including strict adherence to data privacy laws, and following my moral compass when legal precedent lags behind AI innovation.
  7. I believe in intelligent automation without dehumanization and in the potential of AI to deliver profound benefits to humanity and society.
  8. I believe in the importance of upskilling and reskilling professionals, and using AI to build more fulfilling careers and lives.
  9. I believe in partnering with organizations and people who share my principles.

How I Use AI Today

While I often experiment with AI technologies to drive efficiency and performance across many business functions, my primary use in the generative AI space today is for editing and marketing—specifically, ideation, brainstorming, SEO assistance, research, and image creation—for my own website, blog, and other presentations. I do not use it to answer email.

I use a variety of Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) products for the following functions, with current tools indicated in parentheses:

  • Editing, although not exclusively (Grammarly Premium)
  • Plagiarism Checker (Grammarly Premium, QuillBot, Check Plagiarism)
  • Ideation (ChatGPT, Microsoft CoPilot)
  • Copywriting (ChatGPT, Microsoft CoPilot)
  • Outline generation (ChatGPT, Microsoft CoPilot)
  • Research (Google AI, ChatGPT, Microsoft CoPilot)
  • Content summarization (ChatGPT, Microsoft CoPilot)
  • Image generation and visual design ideas (ChatGPT, Microsoft CoPilot, Canva)
