in Concert at Mulberry Waldorf School
Parents! Staying in the city for the May long weekend? Looking for a fabulous event for you and your children? Look no further! Join Juno-nominated children’s artist, Gary Rasberry & The Woodshed Orchestra for a musical matinee at the Mulberry Waldorf School (25 Markland Street, Kingston) on Sunday, May 17th, 2015 at 2:00 pm.
Tickets: $20 Family / $10 Adults / $5 Children – available at the venue.
Gary Rasberry & The Woodshed Orchestra will perform songs from their latest record, The Very Next Day, a joy-filled children’s album. The Very Next Day will take your entire family on a rollicking ride through fields of pop. Without warning, find yourself marching behind a New Orleans brass band. Parents learn to welcome the blues. Friendship and love are celebrated in waltz-time. The joy of being alive is discovered in beautiful roots music with party hats and a horn section.
Gary Rasberry has a knack for working with fabulous musicians. He recorded his Juno-nominated album, What’s the Big Idea?!? with old time fiddle-banjo duo Sheesham & Lotus and followed that up by working with Dave Clark and The Woodshed Orchestra to record The Very Next Day. Gary’s songs honour children for the highly intelligent creatures they are, treat parents with the love and respect they deserve, and celebrate the family unit as the fabulous, crazy, beautiful, institution it truly is. Gary has performed at music festivals across Ontario and beyond.
The Woodshed Orchestra is a multi-headed celebration emancipation experience. Legendary Toronto drummer Dave Clark (Rheostatics, Gord Downie, Charles Spearin) pilots the band through numerous classic dance music styles including New Orleans Funk and Jazz, R&B, Ska, Soul, Reggae, Punk, Rock, Blues, Country, Surf Rock, Neo-Greek, Ranchero, Polka, Disco, Samba, Afro-Pop, Waltz, New Wave, Cajun, Tex-Mex, Power Pop, Klezmer, Torch Ballads, Tango and Calypso, in an extraordinary celebration. With a five-piece horn section and full-ensemble vocals, this is not your everyday bar-band. It is a funky, uplifting, joyful ride every time.
On Sunday, May 17th, enjoy beautiful roots music, with party hats and a horn section for every member of your family at the Mulberry Waldorf School. Fun WILL be had!
