January’s Featured Blog: Play Anon by Catherine Kustanczy

I just managed to slide this in before the end of the month, but I want to tell you about one of my very favourite blogs. It’s called Play Anon (Smart Spew, Straight Up) by Toronto freelance journalist, broadcaster, and free-spirited gypsy soul, Catherine Kustanczy.

Catherine is an interesting, intelligent, vivacious young woman with excellent taste (and taste buds) who blogs primarily about entertainment, culture, social observations and food. She writes, hosts, and produces video and online features for Lucid Media and contributes interviews to Toronto CIUT radio’s morning show, Take 5. An extremely prolific blogger who adds thoughtful and provocative insight to the subjects she chooses to write about, Catherine’s personality always shines through. She loves what she does and you can tell.

Play Anon covers everything from current events, theatre, film, music, art, late night television (she’s for Team Coco), fashion and food. In fact, Catherine is the first real foodie I’ve ever known and her enthusiasm for homemade delicacies as well as those created by Nigella Lawson is infectious. Catherine, or Cate as she is also known, appreciates and describes food the way most people talk about falling in love. She’s also a Robert Downey Jr. fan, has lived in London & Dublin and loves U2 like I do, so I find her quite irresistible! I’m pretty sure that once you get to know her, you will too.

The Prolific Blogger Award

Yesterday, I was delighted that my author friend A.F. Stewart named me as a “prolific blogger” (see her post: and I’m now the recipient of the Prolific Blogger Award. I have the honour of a “Mr. Linky” badge and get to pass the award on to other bloggers.

Here’s the scoop and the official award rules:
