PERFORMS THIS SATURDAY, MAY 14th
Centennial Regional Arena – 144071 Silver Sage Rd – BROOKS, Alberta
Giving Back to Fort Mac Fundraising Event
[Toronto, Canada.] In the wake of the devastation of the fires in Fort McMurray, rock band FREEDOM’S NOTE, will take the stage in Brooks, Alberta this Saturday, May 14th at Centennial Regional Arena to continue the fundraising efforts benefitting the Red Cross. The rock and roll quartet originally from Newfoundland and now based in Fort McMurray (AB), consists of Donny Synard (Rhythm Guitar/Lead Vocals), Trevor Lethbridge (Drums), Danny Fewer (Lead Guitar/Backing Vocals), and Mark Stewart (Bass/Backing Vocals). Even the event coordinator behind the Brooks, AB initiative, John Clarke, is also originally from Newfoundland.
With overwhelming support from the community, a response team has organized a great family friendly event that will feature various activities. All food and drink proceeds along with cash donations will be donated to the Canadian Red Cross where it will be matched 2:1 by the Provincial and Federal Governments. Community groups have donated all the costs associated with the event, maximizing the potential for funds raised. Non-perishable food items, toiletries and unused clothing will also be collected at the event to be distributed to those in need in Fort McMurray.
“The community support for this event has been tremendous,” said City of Brooks Mayor Morishita. “Residents and local companies have donated almost all the resources needed at the event and we are expecting a tremendous turnout on Saturday. The planning committee has been incredible creating an event that usually takes months to coordinate in a manner of days. It’s going to be great.”
“Fort McMurray has been good to all of us in Freedom’s Note,” said Donny Synard by phone. “Like many, we left Newfoundland for work. We have family and close friends here; everyone has been tremendously impacted by these fires – it’s hard and it’s heartbreaking. We are proud to be performing this Saturday in Brooks to not just continue the fundraising efforts, but to thank everyone for their support and generosity during this very difficult time.”
Everyone is encouraged to participate in the GIVING BACK TO FORT MAC FUNDRAISING EVENT. Any and all support, including media, donations and otherwise is truly appreciated.
