This one act play about seven generations of women has won several awards across Ontario and has been featured at The Ontario Housing Conference in Peterborough and at a national conference on gender violence in Kingston. The story follows seven generations of women trapped in a doomed family tree. A young homeless girl, pregnant, arrives at the home she grew up in. It is empty. Slowly the audience is taken back in time to uncover the family secrets that have shaped these women’s lives.

Hannah Smith (Mrs. Lovett in Bottle Tree Productions’ Sweeney Todd) and
Megan Ready-Walters (Joanna in Sweeney Todd) star.

I have seen Hannah Smith star in Bottle Tree Productions’ Miss Julie and Sweeney Todd and I have to say that she is the best young actor from Kingston, ON since Mackenzie Gruer. She stood out well above the rest of the cast of Sweeney Todd with her remarkable talent, both as an actor and as a singer. She’s got what it takes to be a very successful working actor!

I have also seen Ghost of the Tree on a couple of occasions (the lead role was originated by Mackenzie Gruer) and it is an excellent play and the perfect showcase for a very capable and captivating young female actor such as Hannah Smith. I urge you to enjoy an afternoon of wonderful free theatre at The Wellington Street Theatre this Sunday!
